City of Marion officials were told Monday that Internet access for people on the 382 telephone exchange is about a month away.

In other business, appointments made for the coming year included Joan Bowers as city clerk; Linda Holub, court clerk; Dan Baldwin, city attorney; Merle Bruner, fire chief; Donald Keazer, police chief; and Bryson Mills, municipal judge.

The 100th annual alumni banquet of Florence Memorial High School will be held May 25. Theme of the event will be “Centurion Celebration.”

Staff writer Rowena Plett tells how the home dreamed of by Alice and Kent Richmond became a reality in 1992 when they opened Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast on land they own in the Middle Creek Watershed District.

Santa Fe Trail District of Boy Scouts of America held its spring jamboree this weekend at Marion County Park and Lake. The district includes Harvey, McPherson, Chase, and Marion counties. Seventeen troops, including about 217 Scouts, plus leaders, attended and were scattered all over the south side of the lake with several tents set up for each troop.
