2 FFA students head to national

Two Centre FFA members finished first in their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects and will compete nationally.

Karson Kroupa placed first in diversified crop production proficiency placement at the state FFA convention last week in Manhattan.

He will represent the state at a national convention in October.

Emilee Remmers also was a state winner and national qualifier in nursery operations.

The Centre chapter also participated in the bronze division of a competition to create a visually appealing scrapbook highlighting chapter events, trips, activities and awards.

Centre’s chapter was recognized as a contributor in the Chapter Seed Program and as a silver division chapter in National Chapter Award competition.

In addition to his first-place award, Kroupa was a state finalist in vegetable production.

Jenna Bittle was a state finalist in landscape management.

Allie Stuchlik placed second in a plant systems division. Addison Bina was a member of the state choir.

State degree recipients included Kaitlynn Bina, Bittle, Kroupa, Stuchlik, Jenaya Plett, Isabel Rziha, and Payton Svitak.

Also at the convention, Mark Meyer was honored for 36 years of service as Marion FFA adviser.

He is retiring after teaching in Marion since 1988.

FFA members attending from Marion included Auryona Countryman, Miriam Mason, Zachery Schlesener, Keenan Trask, Owen White, Brody Coleman, Teegan Kraus, Sydney Martin, and Noah Schmidt.
