2 tourneys for tennis team

The Trojans tennis team had a big week with two separate tournaments, one on Thursday in Lindsborg and another on Saturday in Hesston.

Annalise Jorgenson finished 1-2 Thursday, which placed her in sixth.

“I see constant improvement in her game,” coach John Ruder said.

Doubles teammates Violet Klein and Cassidy Bernhardt fell 0-3 for an eighth place finish. A second doubles team of Claire Morey and Maylee Hardey ended 1-2 for a seventh place finish.

On Saturday, Hesston’s tournament featured a 16-player draw in both singles and doubles.

“Unfortunately, one of our girls was ill, so we had to pull Annalise out of the singles draw and play her in doubles with Claire Morey,” Ruder said.

It was the first time the two played together. They finished 2-2 in 10th place.

Violet Klein and Cassidy Bernhardt also finished 2-2 for 11th place.

“I saw a lot of good things during both tournaments,” Ruder said. “Now we have a week with no scheduled matches, which give us the chance to really work on the areas where we need to improve before launching into the second half of our season.”

Trojans next match will be Monday in Lyons.
