A group that performs, sounds, and looks like the Beatles will open Summerfest ’93 on June 12. The group, Liverpool, features four musicians wearing the famous gray suits and mop tops of the early Beatles, who got their start in Liverpool, England.
Marion Elementary School second grade class members taught by Ginger Becker spend 30 to 40 minutes each Monday visiting adopted grandparents at Marion Manor. Pictured on the front page are Ashlee Moore and Kayla Barrett as they read books to adopted grandmother Louise Bezdek.
Marion Kiwanis Club will celebrate its 70th year with a banquet and program Monday evening at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The program will be about Ronald McDonald House.
Marion Elementary School spelling bee winner Josh Powers and runner-up Andi Shipman will join students from other Marion County schools, including Florence Middle School students Neil Thakker and Ross Groening, at a county spelling bee later this month.
Bob Harris of Walnut Grove Angus, Marion, displayed the reserve champion bull, named Grand Canyon of WGA, at the 1993 Kansas Angus Futurity in Hutchinson.
Carlsons’ Grocery is offering prizes including a 10-speed all-terrain bicycle, toaster, and Tombstone jacket in celebration of its upcoming first birthday.
