Thirty men and women rode two “60-plus” buses Saturday to the Montgomery County site of “Little House on the Prairie,” made famous by Laura Ingalls Wilder in a series of books and popularized by Michael Landon in his television series by the same name. Mrs. Ernest Meierhoff was in charge of the tour. Wilbur Razor and Homer Stiller did the driving.

Edwin G. Westerhaus of Marion and John Johnson of Hillsboro were nominated Wednesday to replace Marion County Magistrate Judge Henry F. Loveless, who resigned effective May 31.

The deafening roar of more than 300 motorcycles resounded Sunday afternoon through the streets of Florence as that city hosted its sixth annual Florence Grand Prix.

Subjects of this week’s “Personality Profile” are Earl and Margaret “Blondie” Frick, who have served crowd-pleasing meals for the past 10 years at the E & M Café in Durham.

Seven new school records were set May 23 at Marion Elementary School’s 13th annual field day. Record-setting girls were Cindy Woerz and Nancy Kline in the three-legged race; Lisa Hess it the 50-yard dash; Brenda Silhan in the high jump; and Lora Wolf in the softball throw. Boys were Mike Kelsey in the long jump and high jump and Kerry Kelsey in the long jump. Separate records are kept for Groups A through D.
