Work will start soon on another attractive building improvement project for the downtown Marion business district when a new front soon will be installed at Marion National Bank. Features will include a new lighted neon sign with revolving clock and temperature, molded turquoise Plexiglas panel facing, and flower boxes.

Marion Motor Center was again successful low bidder for a police car to be rented for use by the Marion City police department.

Red Cross swimming lessons start July 5 at the Marion pool, according to Mary Theresa Konarik, water safety instructor and program coordinator at the Marion pool.

A cutting torch was used as the means to free Robert Loewen, 18, son of Leander Loewen of rural Hillsboro, who was pinned for some two hours Saturday in a demolished car near Lehigh. Young Loewen was conscious, but pinned in the smashed car suffering from a compound fracture of the left leg above the knee, a broken little finger, and other injuries.
