A development of importance to all Marion countians is taking place this week at the courthouse. A citizens band 2-way radio is being installed at the sheriff’s office for emergency purposes—connecting it with more than 200 private sets owned by citizens and firms over the county.

Another fine business improvement in Marion will be under construction this week. It will be the new dental offices of Dr. E.K. Schroeder and will be located at 921 E. Main between Cedar and Roosevelt streets.

The Marion County Fair Board has completed and turned over the petition asking the county to provide funds for moving the fair from its present location in downtown Hillsboro to the south edge of the city on land being offered by the City if Hillsboro.

The cast has been chosen for the senior play, “The People vs. Maxine Lowe,” to be presented Nov. 18. Characters will be portrayed by Linda Loney, Patty Plenert, Norman Mueller, Pat Costello, John Sandwell, Jackie Thomas, David Longhofer, Chuck Bredemeier, Cathy Palmer, Kathy Westerhaus, Roxanne Zerger, Marian Lawrence, Helen Jackson, Becky Herrick, Carol Bowers, Dennis Highsmith, Mike Wood, and Ken Schmidt.

Warrant Officer Richard Craig of Marion, now serving as a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam, was awarded the Air Medal recently. He has been flying combat missions for the past six months. Out of the 16 helicopters in his unit, Richard’s is the only one that has not been hit. And he says he will be happy to “keep it that way.”

The “Punt, Pass, and Kick” competition was held Saturday evening in front of 200 spectators. Winners were: eight year old category, Tim Zerger; nine year old category, Jay Schwendiman; ten, John Higgins; 11, Chris Costello; and 12, Jack Loomis. Bill Ford was the only entrant in the 13 age category and took first.
