An early morning fire of undetermined origin Monday almost completely wiped out the main building of West Side Motel and Grocery Store on W. Santa Fe St. The Marion fire department responded quickly before the building was consumed. For all practical purposes, it was a total loss.

Norman Bowers, George Jackson, and alternate Wally Slusser were named this week as delegates to American Legion Boys State later in the year at Lawrence.

The PTA special “Opening Night” March 29 and 30 will feature music, dancing, and melodrama. Back by popular request are such stars as Bob Edmunds, Conrad Steinel, and Fred Allen, as well as female attractions Maxine Bell and Janice Case.

Three Marion Junior High students — Susan Hansen, Jimmy Mayginnes, and Mike Steinel — are among the 10 winners at the fourth annual Marion County Science Fair. Winning exhibits will be entered in a regional science fair this weekend in Salina.
