‘Sound Tasting’ to kick off Saturday

Staff writer

Flint Hills Counterpoint is inviting county residents to sample the sounds of summer and join a community musical work.

A free tour of Peabody’s downtown to kick of its Sound Tasting series will start 7 p.m. Saturday at Fannie Sterling 1884.

Mercantile and Flint Hills Gypsies will be other stops.

Sparkling tea and scones from Porcupine Tea Co. will be available for sale.

The nonprofit’s director, Susan Mayo, will give a talk at 7:30 p.m.

A jaunt to Faie Frederickson’s prairie walk near her southeast Peabody home will be the final stop.

Mayo considered having the tour at the prairie walk, but thought it would be fun to have the event in downtown Peabody.

“It gave us a place to have refreshments for sale and talk in a bit more sheltered area,” she said. “The tour will showcase local antique stores.”

People who want more information are may call (316) 258-2342.
