A medical issue is being blamed for Lawrence J. Dasenbock, 66, La Veta, Colorado, driving his 2016 Chevrolet Silverado off Cedar St. and into a tree at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 27.
The pickup traveled more than 500 feet in a ditch and field before hitting the tree 60 feet to the left of the pavement.
Dasenbock told police he had no memory of the accident and had been treated previously for his heart stopping. Officer Kaylan Miles’ report states that Dasenbock’s heart stopped two more times after Dasenbock was taken to St. Luke Hospital by Marion ambulance.
The pickup was listed as a total loss, with damage to the entire vehicle.
