Couple to celebrate 70th anniversary

Children of Bobby and Mary (Ellington) Watts are requesting celebrating a card shower for the couple’s 70th wedding anniversary.

They were married Sept. 25, 1953, by pastor Carl Powell at a Methodist Church in Afton, Oklahoma.

For most of their married lives, they have lived in Peabody, Hesston, and Newton.

Bobby worked for Hesston Corporation for 39 years. Mary was an licensed practical nurse at Bethel Deaconess Hospital for 13 years and at Kansas Christian Home for 10 years.

Their family includes children Robert Watts of Buhler; George Watts of Agency, Missouri; and Kathy Adkins of Newton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
