Day care opens at Centre
Cougar Cubs Daycare opened Jan. 18 in a new building north of the west wing of Centre schools.
It is a two-room facility that can take up to 28 children, ages newborn to 6. Fifteen children already are enrolled.
Cougar Cubs is a play-based program of activities.
Director Janine Foth has an associate’s degree in early childhood and is licensed in Kansas to supervise up to 100 children. She is assisted by Brittany Hett, Megan Semer, and Mickayla Harding.
In addition to full-time staff, high school students will have opportunities to volunteer, take classes, and earn certifications that will qualify them for future work in child care.
A program for school-age children during summer and school breaks is planned.
Operating hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cost is $155 a week. More information is available at (785) 983-4333.
