Goessel groups receive $4,000 in grants

Five grants totaling $4,000 have been awarded to area non-profits by Goessel Community Foundation.

Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum received $1,000 to help renovate a deck, stairs, stair rails, and an accessibility ramp at the museum’s 1906 preparatory school.

Bethesda Home got $1,000 to defray expenses of friendship meals in which participants pay one-third of the cost of each meal.

Goessel schools received $1,000 for its early childhood family engagement night and hands-on activities acquainting families with resources available for educational needs early in life.

Families and Communities Together got $500 for a library program that provides free, age-appropriate books and activity guides monthly for families with children up to age 6.

Marion County Core Community got $500 for youth ministries focused on Christianity and solutions to poverty.

Awards were presented at a banquet April 29 at Goessel Elementary School. The evening included a complimentary meal by Goessel Grocery and Deli and a humorous skit, “A.I. and Fundraising: Not the Best Combination,” by Matt Lehman Wiens and Matt Voth.
