John Ryding

Services for retired Zion Lutheran Church pastor John A. Ryding, 71, who died Nov. 22 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Pastor John Werner will officiate. An additional service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Dec. 10 at Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill, Nebraska. Pastor John Nelson will officiate at that service.

Born May 7, 1951 in Nipiwan, Saskatchewan, to Donald and Elizabeth (Buskist) Ryding, pastor Ryding married Kathryn Petersen on Dec. 30, 1977, in Wichita.

She survives at home in Hillsboro. Other survivors include daughters Rebecca Ryding of Hillsboro; Jennie Doty of Casa Grande, Arizona; and Anne Duda of O’Neill, Nebraska; mother Elizabeth Ryding of O’Neill, Nebraska; brother David Ryding of Hawaii; and sister Marilyn Ryding of California.
