Luba Brinkman

Services for Luba Korobka Holm Brinkman, 82 who arrived in her forever home Nov. 9, 2021, just in time to celebrate her son George’s 60th birthday, were Saturday at Peabody United Methodist Church with burial at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.

She was born June 17, 1939, in Ukraine.

At the age of 2, her family moved to Germany, where family members spent time in a work camp during World War II. When she was 13, they immigrated to the United States and settled in Newton.

She married Glen Holm and was blessed with six children. She later married Gerald Brinkman in 1983.

In addition to being a full-time mother, she worked at Hehr Windows for more than 35 years.

Luba was an avid churchgoer, devoting years of service to Peabody United Methodist Church and later to Pathway Church of Wichita. Luba loved her community, her family, and her Lord. She was a mother and grandmother to all. She was affectionately known as “little grandma” by her great-grandchildren. Her cooking and baking will certainly be missed, but she will forever be remembered for famous hugs.

She also enjoyed putting together puzzles with roommate and friend Marie, going to boxing classes, listening to Elvis, and spending time with loved ones. She loved telling others how blessed she was with her friends and family.

She is survived by daughters Annete (and husband Eric) Ferrell of Denton, Texas; Debbie (and husband David) Pusateri of Wichita; Liz (and husband John) Snelling of Augusta; Traci (and husband Paul) Hines of Wichita; and Lisa (and husband Brian) McDowell of Baldwin City; sons Richard Holm of Peabody and James (and wife Janette) Brinkman of Chanute; brothers George (and wife Virginia) Korobka of Hays and Victor Korobka of Newton; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; dog Bentley; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Anatoly “Tony” and Anna Korobka; first husband Glen Holm; second husband Gerald Brinkman; sister Switlana Briar; sons George Holm and Frank Brinkman; daughter-in-law Josie Holm; and dog Junior.
