Activity Reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

hillsboro

Aug. 29 — Police met with a resident in the 400 block of N. Ash St. about someone banging on his apartment walls. An officer found a broken door window at the old Vogts building on Western Heights and determined it was broken by a weed trimmer. An officer responded after a complaint about a sound of broken glass. An occupant was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital for a mental evaluation after police responded to a complaint about glass breaking at Oakwood Manor Apartments.

Aug. 30 — A driver was warned for not having trailer lights. An officer met with a citizen about a neighbor bothering him. A driver was warned about speeding at D and Wilson Sts.

Aug. 31 — A door-to-door salesman was told he needed a city permit. A driver was warned about speeding in the 200 block of S. Main St. A driver was warned about a faded license plate and burned-out tag light. Two vehicles in the 200 block of S. Adams St. were tagged for being parked in the wrong direction.

Thursday — A driver was warned for speeding in the 500 block of E. D St. Police spoke with a citizen about a post office scam being sent via text message. A car window was broken by an unknown object. A citation was issued for expired registration at Jade and 190th Sts. A driver was warned about a windshield decal in the 800 block of S. Ash St. Police responded to a grocery store in Goessel about someone seen inside the building. Building was found to be secured. A bicyclist was warned warning in the 200 block of S. Main St. for not having lights.

Friday — A reportedly reckless semitrailer eastbound on US-56 was not located. A woman walking on US-56 at Ash St. said she had been involved in an argument at the reservoir and was walking to her home in Dickinson County. Police contacted her father. He picked her up and took her home.

Saturday — An officer checked on the welfare of a resident in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. Violation of an order of protection from abuse in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. was investigated. A driver was warned for speeding in the 500 block of E. D. St.

Sunday — A driver was warned for speeding in the 400 block of N. Ash St. A citizen turned in a wallet found on US-56 at Jade St.

Marion

Aug. 29 — An unruly person was reported at the transfer station. Police spoke to a resident about applying for a court order and to a resident about a civil matter.

Aug. 30 — A resident had an issue with a tenant. Police responded to an accident on private property that involved damage to an object.

Aug. 31 — Found property was returned.

Thursday — The welfare of several juveniles was checked.

Friday — Police met with juveniles riding skateboards after dark in the street.

Sunday — Police contacted a second group of juveniles about riding skateboards after dark on private property.

Aug. 29 — Two citations were issued at two homes in the 400 block of N. Spruce St. for health and safety violations. A driver received a citation for speeding on US-50. Police issued a citation for not stopping at a stop sign at 9th and Sycamore Sts.

Aug. 30 — A driver was issued a citation for speeding on US-50.

Aug. 31 — Police contacted the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism about a report of a mountain lion sighting.

Thursday — Police checked on a complaint of kids chasing cats but didn’t find any. A reported dog-at-large wasn’t found.

Friday — Police checked on a complaint about a dog.

Saturday — Routine activities.

Sunday — Police checked the welfare of a child. Police picked up a dog-at-large and released it to the owner, who received a citation. Police took another dog-at-large to a holding pen.
