ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Jan. 2 — A dog running free was returned to its owner.
Jan. 3 — Charges are pending against a Hillsboro 16-year-old accused of causing $10,000 damage by shooting BBs at a storefront at 1st and Ash Sts. A stolen city parking sign discovered during investigation may result in additional charges. An unwanted house guest was removed from a residence. A driver at US-56 and Adams St. was warned for speeding.
Jan. 4 — A dog owner was cited after the owner’s dog, which had been running free, was returned to the owner.
Thursday — The owner of a dog reportedly barking in the 600 block of S. Ash St. was contacted. A dog reportedly running free in the 600 block of S. Main St. was not located. Welfare of a resident of the 100 block of Floral Dr. was checked. A resident had questions about court procedures and violations of orders of protection.
Friday — Police met with students and staff at Hillsboro Elementary School during a school assembly.
Saturday — A cell phone lost by a Topeka resident at Coronado Heights was tracked to a Hillsboro resident who found it. Police took possession of the phone to return it to its owner. The owner of a dog running free in the area of the city’s industrial park area was notified to pick up the dog.
Sunday — A complaint of loud music in the 200 block of S. Ash St. was determined by police to be unfounded. A driver was cited for speeding on US-56. Other drivers were warned for equipment violation at US-56 and Ash St. and at Ash St. and Grand Ave.
MARION
Police made no traffic stops during the week.
Jan. 2 — A counterfeit $10 bill was used at Family Dollar; no report was released because the case remains under investigation. A dog running free was taken to a veterinary clinic.
Jan. 3 — A dog loose in the 100 block of S Cedar St. was taken to a veterinary clinic.
Jan. 4 — A juvenile was reported to be out of control at Oasis, the Marion County Special Education Cooperative. A bank alarm accidentally sounded at Central National Bank. Property found in a street was returned to its owner.
Thursday — A car struck a deer on Timber Rd.; no report was released because the case remains under investigation. A resident reported lost property of an undisclosed nature.
Friday — St. Luke Hospital reported that someone had been bit by an animal; no further details were released. No problems were found after a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of N. Coble St. was investigated. A person reportedly riding a motorcycle on the city’s flood control dike in the 500 block of Cleveland St. was not found.
Saturday — A mailbox reportedly was damaged in the 700 block of S. Roosevelt St.; no report was released because the case remains under investigation.
Sunday — Routine activities.
