ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 24 — Wrecks in parking lots at Hillsboro High School and Sonic Drive-In were investigated. Police responded to a false alarm at O’Reilly Auto Parts, met with residents about a civil matter and about a harassment complaint, and checked on a resident of the 300 block of S. Ash St.

Aug. 25 — A driver was ticketed for having a suspended license in the parking lot at Casey’s General Store. A dog was reported loose near Washington and D Sts. A child reportedly riding a bicycle near US-56 and K-15 was not found. Drivers were warned for speeding at Jade and 190th Rds. and for not using headlights at Ash St. and Briarwood Ct. Police talked to a hitchhiker in the 500 block of E. D St., checked on the welfare of someone at US-56 and Adams St., and stood by during a civil matter in the 200 block of S. Cedar St.

Aug. 26 — A motorcycle without a license plate at Country Haven Inn was checked and determined to have been stolen Sept. 26, 2025, from Joplin, Missouri. A vehicle stopped at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd. was searched after a Marion police dog indicated drugs might be present; a Lyons woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police checked on a transient sleeping in a ditch near Jade and 190th Rds. A wallet was found and returned to its owner. A resident complained about a dog in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. Police met with residents about a civil issue and about a possible scam and responded to another false alarm at O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Thursday — Tires illegally were dumped on a trash container in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. Dogs were reported loose at Lincoln and C Sts. and at the city airport. A driver was ticketed for having a suspended license in the Dollar General parking lot. Other drivers were warned for allowing someone to ride in the bed of a truck in the 200 block of N. Ash St. and for not using headlights in the 1500 block of Orchard Dr. A resident complained about a semitrailer truck swerving across lanes at US-56 and Orchard Dr. Police met with a resident of the 300 block of N. Ash St. about a harassment complaint. Police backed up a sheriff’s deputy at a disturbance on Jade Rd. south of 190th Rd.

Friday — A 25-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence in connection with an incident police learned about nearly more than three hours after it happened in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. A driver was warned for defective taillights at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Saturday — A resident talked to police about a civil matter.

Sunday — Police checked on a resident at Jade and 190th Rds.

MARION

Aug. 24 — A hitchhiker was reported on US-56 within the city limits. A vehicle parked on Eastmoor Dr. was ticketed to be towed if not moved within 48 hours.

Aug. 25 — Police helped deputies with traffic stops at US-56/77 and 220th Rd. and at Main and 4th Sts., where Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at Lincoln and Weldon Sts. and in the 600 block of N. Cedar St.

Aug. 26 — Police didn’t find a vehicle that a resident complained was parked on private property. Marion’s police dog was called for a traffic stop by Hillsboro police at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd. A driver was warned for an unspecified moving violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Thursday — Police dealt with an out-of-control juvenile at Oasis special education school, helped a deputy with cows loose near US-56/77 and 220th Rd., and took a complaint about barking dogs in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St.

Friday — Police talked to a resident of the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. about an unspecified complaint. A resident had questions about an order of protection. Marion’s police dog was deployed for a traffic stop at US-56 and Ash St. in Hillsboro. Police also backed up a sheriff’s deputy at an injury accident on US-56/77 near 300th Rd. Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and 3rd Sts. and at two traffic stops at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Saturday — Marion’s police dog again was deployed for a traffic stop near US-56 and Remington Rd. Drivers were warned for equipment violations in two traffic stops on US-56, one at Cedar St. and one at Timber Rd.

Sunday — A utility pole fell across a driveway in the 400 block of W. Main St. Police helped lift a patient during a medical call at Homestead Senior Residences. A resident complained about parking in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. Police backed up a sheriff’s deputy at an unspecified incident near US-56 and Old Mill Rd. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd
