Rocking the night away at Hillsboro gala

Rocking the night away

Two Wichita pianists entertained an estimated 150 Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce members and guests at the chamber’s annual fund raising banquet Monday.

The pianists played enthusiastic renditions of “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Margaritaville,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and John Mellencamp’s “Little Pink Houses,” along with requests from members of the audience.

Requests ranged from classic gospel to “Veggie Tales” music.

Besides entertainment, the Hillsboro Community Gala offered a barbecue buffet food catered by Rob Scott of Pioneer Catering and a silent auction of donated goods.

Chamber president Lisa Donahue of Salem Homes offered a recap of the chamber’s accomplishments and upcoming events and thanked members and volunteers for their support.

The chamber’s next event will be a monthly downtown cruise from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The chamber also plans a repeat of last summer’s popular outdoor movie night.
