Trash schedule unreadable

Staff writer

A trash pickup schedule sent to Marion residents in December utility bills is nearly impossible to understand.

Schedules ordinarily are printed in color to make it easy to identify which parts of town will have trash pickups on which days.

Postalocity, a Wichita company that prints and mails the city’s utility bills, erred in printing the schedule in black and white, utility billing clerk Becky Makovec said.

With various shades printed in white to medium gray, it was nearly impossible to identify which days trash would be picked up on weeks with holidays.

Postalocity apparently didn’t notice that the schedule was to be printed in color, and Makovec said she didn’t notice the mistake before sending out the bills.

When the error was brought to the printer’s attention, Postalocity made “a sweet deal” and agreed to reprint them, Makovec said.

“We will print them again next month,” Makovec said.

Meanwhile, customers who want can stop by the city office and pick up a trash schedule printed with color.

“We printed some others that are available at the office,” she said.
